Renewal Deadline
RN/LPN licenses renew every 4 years through the AZBN Nurse Portal. (APRN certificates renew on the same 4-year RN cycle.)
Required & specialty topics
- RNs/LPNs satisfy continued competency by ONE of: 960+ hours of active nursing practice in the past 5 years; OR a Board-approved refresher course in the past 5 years; OR graduating / earning a nursing degree in the past 5 years.
- APRNs: maintain national certification + 960 APRN-level practice hours in 5 years (otherwise 45 hours advanced pharmacology + 45 hours in role/population CE).
- APRNs with a DEA license who prescribe Schedule II controlled substances: at least 3 hours of opioid / substance-use-disorder / addiction CE per renewal (A.R.S. 32-3248.02).
