24 contact hours per renewal period (about 16 general hours + the required topic courses below)
Renewal Cycle
Biennial (every 2 years)
Tracking / Reporting
CE Broker (the official Florida tracking system). Many providers report to CE Broker automatically.
Renewal Deadline
Biennial renewal through Florida Health Source. All CE must be reported in CE Broker before renewal.
Required & specialty topics
- Prevention of Medical Errors: 2 hours, every renewal.
- Florida Laws and Rules: 2 hours, every renewal.
- Human Trafficking: 2 hours, every renewal.
- Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace: 2 hours, every other renewal.
- HIV/AIDS: 1 hour, one-time at first renewal.
- Domestic Violence: 2 hours, every third renewal (in addition to the usual hours).
New & first-time renewals
- New licensees and certain endorsement cases have prorated general hours but must still complete the mandatory topic courses (and the one-time HIV/AIDS hour at first renewal).
Good to know
- Most mandatory topic courses must come from a Florida Board of Nursing-approved provider (the human trafficking course is an exception).
