Renewal Cycle
Biennial (every 2 years)
Tracking / Reporting
Nothing to submit for RN/LPN renewal. You still attest to professional-conduct disclosure questions.
Renewal Deadline
RN (and APRN prescriptive-authority) licenses expire October 31 of ODD-numbered years; LPN licenses expire October 31 of EVEN years. Renew through the MyLicense portal. No grace period — a $50 late fee applies and you must stop practicing if it lapses.
Required & specialty topics
- There is NO continuing education requirement for a standard RN or LPN renewal in Indiana.
- APRNs with a controlled-substance registration (CSR): 30 contact hours every 2 years, including at least 8 hours of pharmacology and 2 hours on opioid prescribing/abuse.
Good to know
- You are still expected to maintain competency in your area of practice; keep any CE certificates in case of audit (the Board may audit up to 10% of licensees).
- Indiana is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
