Required Hours
24 contact hours per renewal period (1 contact hour for each month of registration)
Renewal Cycle
Biennial (every 2 years), tied to your birth month/year
Tracking / Reporting
Self-attested; keep CE records for 2 years after you use them for renewal. The Board randomly audits; unverified hours roll to the next period.
Renewal Deadline
Licenses expire the last day of your birth month every 2 years (odd or even year depends on your birth year). Renew online through the Board's services; no grace period.
Required & specialty topics
- No mandatory CE topics for RNs — any nursing-relevant CE counts.
- CE can also be satisfied by holding current national nursing certification or by qualifying professional activities (three accepted pathways).
- APRNs with controlled-substance prescriptive authority: 2 hours on opioid prescribing (counts within the total).
New & first-time renewals
- Your first registration period can run 6–29 months; the CE requirement is prorated at 1 contact hour per month of that period.
