Renewal Cycle
Biennial (every 2 years), tied to your birthday
Tracking / Reporting
Self-attested; the Board randomly audits. Keep CE certificates ~4 years and your bioterrorism certificate indefinitely.
Renewal Deadline
RN/LPN licenses renew on your birthday every 2 years. Renew through the Nevada Nurse Portal (opens ~60 days before).
Required & specialty topics
- Bioterrorism / weapons of mass destruction: a one-time 4-hour course (counts within the 30). Required since 2005 (AB 250 / NRS 632.343).
- Cultural Competency & Diversity/Equity/Inclusion: 4 hours EVERY renewal (must be a Nevada-approved course; counts within the 30).
New & first-time renewals
- New graduates are exempt from the 30 hours for their first biennial renewal — but must still complete the one-time bioterrorism course and the 4-hour cultural competency course.

- Nevada is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
- APRNs complete 45 hours (15 in specialty), plus suicide-prevention and substance-use requirements.
