New Hampshire Nursing CE Requirements
Everything New Hampshire RNs need for license renewal — required contact hours,
renewal cycle, mandatory topics, and the best continuing-education providers, in one place.
Required Hours
30 contact hours per renewal period, PLUS an active-practice requirement
Renewal Cycle
Biennial (every 2 years), tied to your birthday
Tracking / Reporting
Self-attested; keep documentation for audit. Contact hours must pertain to your scope of practice (no specific mandated topics).
Renewal Deadline
RN/LPN licenses expire on your birthday every 2 years. Renew online through the OPLC portal (your first renewal falls on your second birthday after issue).
Required & specialty topics
- 30 contact hours within the 2 years immediately preceding application, PLUS active practice — at least 400 hours of practice within the 4 years immediately prior (other practice/competency pathways may apply).
- APRNs: an additional 30 hours (20 in the specialty, 5 in pharmacology); prescribers with a NH DEA registration put 3 of the 5 pharmacology hours toward opioid prescribing, pain management, or substance use disorder.
Good to know
- New Hampshire is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
- Current national certification in your specialty can satisfy the 30 RN hours.
