Required Hours
No mandatory CE — a continued-competency choice (30 CE hours is one option)
Renewal Cycle
Biennial (every 2 years)
Tracking / Reporting
CE Broker (official). Keep CE records ~5 years; the Board may request verification at any time.
Renewal Deadline
Apply for renewal by October 1 of even-numbered years; all licenses expire December 31 of the renewal year. You cannot practice on an expired license after January 1. Renew online.
Required & specialty topics
- Satisfy continued competency by ONE of (Chapter 2, Section 13): 400 hours of active practice (no CE needed); OR 200 hours of practice PLUS 15 contact hours of CE; OR 30 contact hours of CE if under 200 practice hours; OR passing the NCLEX.
- Prescribers: 3 hours of CE on responsible prescribing of controlled substances or treatment of substance use disorders.
New & first-time renewals
- Even if you were first licensed during the renewal year, you must still renew by the deadline.
